30-year-old woman backs out of girls trip to Dubai when best friend starts planning to bring her husband, fears feeling like a third wheel on her own birthday: "It was supposed to be a real getaway from everything"

What makes a girls trip a girls trip? Is it the sort of activities associated with the term: a spa day, a shopping spree, a 4-hour brunch with bottomless mimosas? Well, no. It's the fact that there are no men present. As soon as a man is involved, it is no longer a girls trip; it might a friends trip – which could be just as fun as a girls trip, but the vibe and dynamic does change just a bit. If the men in question tagging along are anything more then platonic, the vibes change dramatically.

In our story today, two best friends plan a girls getaway to Dubai. The trip is meant to celebrate our protagonist's 30th birthday. However, as the date of departure gets closer, her friend drops a major bomb: she has invited her husband on the trip. Now our main girl is thinking of canceling everything in fear of feeling more like a plus-one on the couple's romantic vacation than a birthday girl.
